The Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast
December 11, 2009 German Consul-General in Novosibirsk visited the Tomsk Duma
Boris Maltsev, Speaker of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma, and Ivan Klyain, Duma deputy, Chairman of the Oblast Duma Tax Commission, met with
Gudrun Steinacker, Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk.
Mrs. Steinacker paid her inception visit to Tomsk after being appointed as Consul-General in September this year. During the visit the parties discussed a wide range of questions and in particular the issue of state protectionism for northern areas.
Gudrun Steinacker who had worked in German Embassy in Norway for 4 years said that in that Scandinavian country the northern areas develop only due to targeted protectionist policy.
Besides, Boris Maltsev and Ivan Klyain underlined that Tomsk Oblast remains an area with inexhaustible potential for investors. And the rate of German business presence in our region can be higher. It has been proven by successful joint projects implemented by Tomsk companies in cooperation with German partners.
Gudrun Steinacker said that German bankers express now more optimism while analyzing Siberian investment climate.
