March 2, 2011. Laureates of 2010 Tomsk Oblast State Duma Award for Young Researchers and Young Hopefuls announced
On March 2 names of the winners in the annual contest of talented youth were announced in the International Cultural Center of Tomsk Polytechnic University. 37 school and university students became winners in the contest for 2010 Tomsk Oblast State Duma Award.
Over 180 people took part in the eighth contest. The objective of the contest is to raise interest in education and science, and create new XXI century icons among school and university students.
Oblast deputies, university representatives, and Tomsk scientific elite greeted the participants in the contest and wished them more accomplishments. The ceremony was opened by Oblast Duma
Speaker Boris Maltsev. He thanked rector of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University
Petr Chubik for the idea of that unique contest aimed at supporting talented youth.
For the contest this year the deputies increased the number of awards by 12, so now there are 37 awards altogether.

Ivan Klyain expressed hope that among the participants and winners in the contest there are people who will make Tomsk Oblast famous in the future as they become Nobel Prize laureates.

Vladimir Dolgikh emphasized that the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast managed to pool in one nomination doctors of science, PhDs (candidates of science), postgraduate and undergraduate students.
