The G20 Youth Summit will take place April 15 to 18 in Toronto. The Summit will gather young business leaders, financial analysts and economists (aged 25 to 45). Both public initiatives are sponsored by public associations, national public authorities, academic community, and business elite from the G8 and G20 countries.

The meeting had a format of a discussion platform where the Chairman of the International Youth Diplomacy League Ksenia Khoruzhnikova reported to her colleagues on formation of Russian delegations and their preparation to the Summits. Points for discussion were problems of global politics, economy, and finance; integration of the Russian youth into the global youth community; development of youth business and youth parliamentarism at the global level. Young leaders voiced a range of proposals on creation of a world common energy network, global disaster prevention system, common system of multi-currency settlements, and making the Russian ruble a regional reserve currency.

Vladimir Zhidkikh said to the young delegates,
‘You have been entrusted with a very important mission: to represent Russia. Please carry this title with dignity and tell the world about the modern progressive thinking Russian youth.’

The two Senators shared their experience in foreign activity and participation in international parliamentary organizations, and revealed the secrets of working in a parliamentary team.

Mr. Zhidkikh said that in order to be successful, a politician, an MP, and a diplomat should be able ‘to listen (three times), do (three times), and speak (three times). The most important task should be to present Russia and expand global contacts.

As a result of the meeting, a number of proposals were elaborated which will be presented by the Russian delegation in Canada and included in the final papers of the Youth Summits.
