02.03.10. Laureates of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma Award
for Young Researchers and Young Hopefuls decided
On March 2, a solemn reception of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma Chairman to honor the laureates of 2009 Duma Award for Young Scientists and Young Hopefuls took place.
In 2009, 190 candidates took part in the Oblast Duma Contest.
62 schoolchildren were nominated as Young Hopefuls. These are schoolchildren from towns and districts of Tomsk Oblast.
54 young researchers and students from Tomsk universities and research institutes applied for the Natural Sciences nomination. 37 nominees applied for the Engineering Sciences category. The same number of candidates were nominated in the Humanities category.
This year, the Oblast deputies supplemented 25 awards in the main categories with three additional awards in the Young Hopefuls category and an additional award in the Young Researchers. Thus, 13 young hopefuls and 16 young researchers won in the Contest.
It is worth reminding that the title ‘Tomsk Oblast State Duma Laureate’ is awarded to young researchers for fundamental research substantially contributing to development of science; for development and mastering the advanced technology, materials and new generation technologies increasing the rate and efficiency of economy development, enhancing the national defense capability.
Schoolchildren are awarded in the Young Hopefuls category for excellent performance in school studies, good results in thematic academic competitions, research practicing. There are three categories in the Contest: Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences and Humanities.
