The Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly hosted a meeting of Vladimir Zhidkikh, Tomsk Oblast representative in the Federation Council and Chairman of the Youth and Tourism Committee of the Federation Council, with participants in the program Russian School for Young Leaders among Russian Germans.

Pro-active attitude, high-quality education and desire to be the best and the first are the key features that drive the young towards discovering their full potential, says Vladimir Zhidkikh. ‘Everyone is capable but there is a great challenge that the young face – themselves, their unwillingness to continuously train their brains with the sky the limit,’ said the Senator to young leaders from 22 Russian regions who went through a competitive selection process to become participants in the target program aimed at developing leadership among the youth of Russia.

The program Russian School for Young Leaders among Russian Germans involves such issues as preservation of ethnic identity in a multinational Russia and possibilities for the young to have their independent say in those issues. The participants in the program will be trained in social integration and personal development techniques, creation of programs and projects to involve young people in promotion of all spheres of life of the Russian state.

In the Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament the program participants were told about the activity of the Federation Council and Youth Parliamentary Assembly established by the Federation Council. Evgeny Mikhalchenko, Chairman of the Assembly, emphasized importance of the youth involvement in the legislative process.

Vladimir Zhidkikh supported the point. He also said that the best start for a young personality is participation in public administration activities through institutions such as a ‘stand-in government’, i.e. youth parliament. And the significance of the Youth Parliamentary Assembly by the Federation Council is substantiated by the fact that this year two proposals from a resolution passed by the Assembly members were mentioned in the Message of the Russian President.

Vladimir Zhidkikh backed the idea to implement a program on promotion of youth initiatives, leadership, social activity. He stressed that such programs must be implemented not only at the federal level but also in the regions.

The Tomsk Oblast representative Zhidkikh had a very interesting, animated and straightforward conversation with young leaders from the regions of Russia. They talked about building of the youth bench strength and developing their educational and career potential taking into account national specifics and aspects in the multinational state of Russia. Vladimir Zhidkikh expressed confidence that Russia urgently needs the youth potential including that of the Russian Germans. ‘You should remember that a wide ocean of possibilities lies in front of you, that the country is yours and in the nearest future you will be the ones to advance it, manage it and develop in the most diverse areas and fields,’ instructed the program participants Vladimir Zhidkikh.
