October 5, 2009. V. Zhidkikh, senator, representative of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma, took part in the regular session of the PACE

Under Georgian initiative, the Assembly considered the issue on stripping the Russian delegation of powers in the Parliament Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) due to Moscow's stand on Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. 88 delegates voted against and 35 voted for debarring Russia from voting in the European Parliament.

A member of the Russian delegation – Vladimir Zhidkikh, senator, representative of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma:

‘It is the final victory of truth against the lie to my mind. The Georgian delegation has long been trying to conceal the cause and the guilty of the war mongering in Ossetia. The PACE is tired of Georgia constant persisting to include on the agenda the issue of the aftermath of war in Ossetia and Russian participation in it.’

V. Zhidkikh considers that this decision of members of the European Parliament proves their determination to provide long-term stability in South Ossetia.
