The Russian-German Youth Parliament held annually in parallel with the Petersburg Dialogue Forum as its indispensible part, took place in Yekaterinburg this July.

The Parliament members – fifty young leaders from Russia and Germany – meet annually to discuss the problems alarming the youth of two countries and propose their joint solutions in the final resolution.

It is worthy of note that the final document is introduced by the Russian and German co-chairs of the Parliament directly to the heads of both countries. This year Anna Ryzhova, member of the Tomsk Oblast Youth Parliament, was honored with this high position.

Speaking to the Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, the young MPs proposed their solutions to a wide range of problems in such areas as environment, civil society, tolerance, education and employment matters.

Straight at the presentation Angela Merkel made a point of the young MP's requirements regarding development of the Russian-German exchange programs in professional education and requested the leader of the German National Trade Union attending the presentation to explore the issue.

Anna Ryzhova is invested with authorities of a co-chairperson for a year. And according to her, she is planning to explore every avenue during this year to strengthen the ties between Germany and Tomsk Oblast.
