The Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast
April 14, 2010. Yuri Kovalev died On April 14, at the age of 74, died a brilliant person, Yuri Kovalev, bright and outstanding politician, an Honorary Citizen of Tomsk City, Chairman of the Council of Elders, Yuri Kovalev.
Yuri Kovalev was a deputy of the Oblast Duma of the first and second convocation; in 1997-2001 he worked as the Deputy Speaker of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma and Chairman of the Budgetary and Financial Committee. In 2001-2007 he was a member of the Russian Federal Assembly Federation Council – representative of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma.
Mr. Kovalev left a beautiful and lasting mark in the hearts of many people who were lucky enough to work with him. For many of us he was a teacher, a person who influenced our lives. He was a kind and open-minded, a talented and creative personality – a rare combination in politics.
The deputies and administrative staff of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma express deep and sincere condolences to the family friends of this amazing person, Yuri Kovalev. His passing left a deep hole in our lives because many people in our city truly loved and respected him, and treated him with sincere gratitude.
Mr. Kovalev will forever be an example of honesty, reliability, and self-denying dedication to his cause.
