December 3, 2009 Young activists from the regions came to Tomsk
The Youth Parliament of Tomsk Oblast and a regional public association TEMA held a three-day educational seminar School for Modern Youth for 40 representatives of youth dumas from 10 regions of Tomsk Oblast.
The goal of the seminar was to create a single parliamentary movement, determine a common direction for development of the Oblast Youth Parliament and regional youth dumas. The participants to the seminar elaborated a single model of a youth duma on the municipal level. The youth duma in a region should become the center of the youth activity which will serve as basis for interactions of the young with the local authorities. For some of the young people the youth duma will be the first step towards a deputy seat.
‘The School has been an important step in our continuous work with the regions; before the seminar we developed a template agreement, discussed creation of youth dumas with the local authorities,’ said Vladislav Ilyashenko, Speaker of the Tomsk Oblast Youth Parliament.
The seminar was sponsored by the State Duma of Tomsk Oblast, Youth Policy, Physical Training and Sports Department of Tomsk Oblast, and Tomsk regional division of the United Russia party.
