The deputies of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma studied

On August 27, 2007 the deputies of the Tomsk Oblast State Duma studied the experience of the Latvian capital in town planning policies and preservation of historical-cultural heritage.

During the four days the Tomsk Oblast deputies were studying the Latvian capital experience in the town planning policy and preservation of historical and cultural heritage of the old city. On August 24, 2007 a press-conference, devoted to the visit of the Tomsk Oblast delegation to Latvia was held. The Speaker of the Tomsk Oblast Parliament Boris Maltsev, acting Major of the city of Tomsk Nickolay Nickolaychuck and the Tomsk Oblast deputy Alexsander Speter spent four days in Riga. The Tomsk delegation was interested in many things: city maintenance, transport, family medicine, housing and communal services, the system of food service “LIDO”, in particular.

As a result of this visit a protocol of intentions for collaboration was signed. The protocol states, that the city Administration Bodies of Tomsk and Riga will enhance development and signing in 2008 of an agreement between Tomsk and Riga in commercial, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields.

An agreement for the visit to Latvia of the delegation of the leadership of the Tomsk Oblast department of health and chief doctors of the hospitals to study the experience of family doctors’ practice in Latvia, which has existed for almost 10 years, was reached.
