March 18, 2015. 39th Extraordinary Session of the Legislative Duma of the 5th convocation
Opening the extraordinary session of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast Duma Speaker Oksana Kozlovskaya said that the agenda of the session consisted of only one item on approving a candidate for the office of Prosecutor of Tomsk Oblast – Viktor Romanenko – proposed by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
“On March 2 the Oblast Duma received a recommendation by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka to appoint judicial counselor 3rd class, first deputy of the Prosecutor of Tomsk OblastViktor Romanenkov to the office of Prosecutor of Tomsk Oblast,” said the Speaker.
In accordance with the federal law On the Prosecution Service of the Russian Federation, the prosecutor of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation is appointed by Decree of the President of Russia upon a recommendation by the Prosecutor General. The regional lawmakers only need to approve the candidate. Tomsk Oblast Governor Sergey Zhvachkin also informed the Duma that he supports Prosecutor General’s recommendation.
Head of the Prosecutor General’s Office in the Siberian Federal District Vladimir Tokarev presented the candidate. He said that Viktor Romanenko has been working with the Russian Prosecution Service since 1992. He started as the chief investigator of the City Prosecutor’s Office and currently holds the office of the first deputy of Tomsk Oblast Prosecutor. He showed excellent performance throughout his career.
Chairman of the Committee for Legislation, State Structure and Safety of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast Vladimir Kravchenko presented the committee’s position to recommend approval of the candidate.
Viktor Romanenko introduced himself and answered the deputies’ questions.
Speaker Oksana Kozlovskaya suggested proceeding to the vote. Viktor Romanenko was appointed to the office of Prosecutor of Tomsk Oblast by the majority vote of the Duma deputies.
