Promising dialogue
Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Novosibirsk Viktor Richter sent a letter of gratitude to Speaker of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast Oksana Kozlovskaya and members of the Duma Council for the meeting which was held as part of the Consul General’s agenda on his first official visit to Tomsk Oblast in December 2014.
In his letter to Oksana Kozlovskaya Viktor Richter says, among other things –
"It was very interesting for me to learn about your vision of the development of Tomsk Oblast, about the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast, and close economic, scientific and cultural ties between Tomsk Oblast and the Federal Republic of Germany.
My agenda in Tomsk Oblast also included a visit to the Tomsk State University, a meeting with the leaders of the Tomsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian-German community. The government provides significant support to the German minority in the region. The Russian-German House in Tomsk is a great example of successful cooperation of associations of ethnic Germans with local governments. The House has found a reasonable balance between preserving traditions and customs of ethnic Germans, offering opportunities to learn the German language and folklore, and focusing on the work with children and the youth, testing new methods and approaches, and developing economic cooperation. We are very thankful to you and your colleagues in the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast for your continuous support for the ethnic Germans in Tomsk Oblast.
I have shared the results of my visit with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Economy and related economic, scientific, and cultural organizations of Germany.
Even before my visit I had heard a lot about the successful efforts of Tomsk Oblast in the innovative development of its economy and knew Tomsk Oblast was one of the leading Russian regions in innovations. We had a productive discussion about that in our meeting. I had an enjoyable visit to one of the sites of the Special Economic Zone of Tomsk Oblast where I got introduced to the work of the resident firms. It was a great pleasure to learn that German businessmen actively contribute to the development of innovations in Tomsk Oblast and successfully develop their business through various preferences and benefits offered by the Tomsk Special Economic Zone.
The Consulate General is willing to provide every reasonable support for the development of cooperation between Tomsk Oblast and the Federal Republic of Germany."
