International Paralympics Expedition in Tomsk
From August 7 to 21 an international expedition Around the Heart in Eighty Days starts off in Tomsk. Participants in paddle propelled kayaks will travel 600 kilometers along the river Ob passing by Tomsk Oblast Districts Melnikovo, Krivosheino, Molchanovo and Kolpashevo, and finish in Kargasok.
“The expedition’s main goal is to promote Paralympics movement in Tomsk Oblast,” says leader of the expedition, member of the Tomsk Oblast Youth Parliament Ioannes Chechnev. “Another goal is to shoot a documentary People with Infinite Abilities. Among seven participants three have disabilities. For them, the expedition will become a way to overcome their physical challenges.”
The expedition will also do some research studies. Throughout their journey the travelers will evaluate the environmental status of the regions and take samples of water, soils, bark, and vegetation for the Tomsk Polytechnic University.
