The US Embassy visited Tomsk
November 13, 2013 – Representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow came on a working visit to Tomsk:
Andrea Brouilette-Rodriguez (Undersecretary for Political Affairs) and
Kristin Hawkins (Second Secretary, Minister Counselor for Political Affairs).
During the visit they met with representatives of the Youth Parliament of Tomsk Oblast. The meeting covered parliamentary matters as well as youth policy and cross-cultural relations. Discussions repeatedly came down to a special youth spirit of Tomsk. Everyone pointed out that Tomsk has an obvious positive difference from the other Russian cities.

Youth Parliament of Tomsk Oblast said: “We are pleased to meet the U.S. Embassy representatives in Tomsk, to observe their willingness to meet the members of the Youth Parliament. We talked about the attitude of the Russians to Americans and potential growth of the number of people involved in parliamentary matters in Russia.”
The young parliamentarians told their story of joining the Youth Parliament and talked about their desire to go on with a political career.
