The website of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast goes multilingual the first among the websites of Tomsk Oblast government bodies. Since 2007, the website has been running an English version; since 2008, the German version; and now it is available in Chinese.
Tomsk Oblast has always intensively developed international cooperation and strengthened its foreign economic and political ties.
Among its partner regions abroad are Lorraine in France, Oxford in the UK, Lower Saxony and Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany, Styria in Austria, Shandong, Jiangsu, and Liaoning in China, and Western Australia.
It has become important for the government of Tomsk Oblast to reach out to the Chinese audience as the region has recently been implementing a number of big investment projects sponsored by Chinese investors. It is just natural that they should have access to the information on the current activity of the local government in their mother tongue.
