Parental Valor

On the International Day of Families the Speaker of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast awarded the Parental Valor Decoration to 12 families who raise five or more children in Tomsk Oblast for the revival of family values.

Opening the ceremony, Duma Speaker Oksana Kozlovskaya made a point that large families set a great example of courage and a civic position worthy of admiration.

“Those are special families because they are built upon love and understanding. I am a woman and I know very well what it takes to carry and deliver a child. And it is twice as much difficult to raise a child one can be proud of. I should say thank you so much for your hard work, your courage and love. You set a wonderful example for many. I wish you and your families love, happiness and respect!”

The Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast established the Parental Valor Decoration award in 2008 to draw public attention to families successfully raising multiple children.

Since 2008, 149 families with 985 children were awarded the Decoration. The award ceremony takes place twice a year: In November before the Mother’s Day and in May on the International Day of Families.

This April, the deputies of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast resolved to award 12 large families living in Tomsk Oblast.

During the award ceremony the Speaker mentioned that at the May session the Governor would introduce amendments to the budget law which allow allocating more than 70 million rubles to help families with five or more children solve their housing issues.
