willing to cooperate with European Regions Research and Innovation Network
On March 23 Tomsk Oblast Governor Viktor Kress spoke at the 20th Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Chamber of Regions. The session was dedicated to cooperation among the European regional associations and EU institutions.
In a five-minute speech the Governor told about the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia which had been initiated by Tomsk Oblast.
“Development of R&D activity and innovative infrastructure for science-driven business requires not only cooperation among regions in Russia but also gradual integration of Russian interregional associations (such as AIRR) into the global environment,” Viktor Kress said.
In his capacity of AIRR Council Chairman Viktor Kress said that AIRR are interested in developing cooperation with similar European interregional associations (such as ERRIN, European Regions Research and Innovation Network).
Chairman of the Chamber of Regions Herwig van Staa thanked Tomsk Governor for his speech and said that enhancing cooperation of Russian regions and their associations with their European partners is a very promising area for interaction between the Russian Federation and the European Council.
