New Name in the New Decade
On January 23 amendments to the Charter (Basic Law) of Tomsk Oblast take effect, under which the Oblast Duma is officially renamed to the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast. From that day on the title “deputy of the State Duma of Tomsk Oblast of the fourth convocation” changes to “deputy of the Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast of the current convocation.”
According to the Law, the change of the name will not affect the status of officials and Duma employees. Before changes are made to the effective laws the “old” and “new” names will be interchangeable. Laws will be amended accordingly before January 1, 2012.
