The Legislative Duma of Tomsk Oblast

On December 7, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin met with Russian volunteers

Among them Tomsk representative, deputy of Tomsk Oblast Duma Nellya Gudantseva.

‘I told Mr. Putin about large volunteer projects in Russia,’ said Nellya Gudantseva. ‘Those include projects such as “Vancouver Volunteers”, “Kazan Volunteers”, and “Sochi Volunteers.” At this exhibition I also managed to tell the Prime Minister about our Oblast project “Tomsk Oblast Volunteers Team.” “Vladimir Putin was agreeably surprised that while teaching the youth and promoting volunteer ideas under the project, we are also actively engaging the district administrations of Tomsk Oblast with volunteer affairs, teaching them how to work with the volunteers, which is not always simple and easy-to-understand for them.

At the meeting the Prime Minister was asked a lot of questions about the future development of volunteering in the country. It is essential that the volunteering in Tomsk Oblast and other Russian regions has systematic development and stretches far beyond the Games in Sochi and Kazan.

This explains why I asked Mr. Putin the question about the status of the Volunteer Centers in universities after the Games. Vladimir Putin reassured me that he would recommend the regions to keep the Volunteer Centers and expand their range of activities.”
